Some 584,000 Foreign Tourists Visit Angkor Archeological Park in First Seven Months

A total of 584,375 international tourists have visited Cambodia's famous Angkor Archaeological Park in the first seven months of 2024, up 33 percent from 439,365 over the same period a year earlier, a report from the Angkor Enterprise showed on Friday. The revenue generated from the entrance pass sales rose by 33.8 percent to US$27 million, read the report. In July alone, this UNESCO World Heritage Site attracted 62,425 foreign holidaymakers, earning US$2.82 million in revenue, up 16 percent and 15 percent, respectively compared to the same month last year, the source pointed out. These figures are a clear indication that Cambodia's tourism sector is on a strong recovery path even though the number has not yet reached the level in the pre-pandemic period, said Ministry of Tourism's Secretary of State and Spokesperson H.E. Top Sopheak. 'The upgraded airport facilities in Siem Reap, coupled with Cambodia's rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, have undoubtedly played crucial roles in facilitating this growth,' he explained. The entrance fee for a one-day visit to the park is US$37, a three-day visit costs US$62 and a week-long visit US$72. Situated in Siem Reap northwestern province, the 401-square-kilometre Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples, which had been built from the 9th to the 13th century. The Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in Cambodia.
