Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet held a bilateral talk with Australian Prime Minister H.E. Anthony Albanese, on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations in Melbourne on Mar. 5.

On the occasion, H.E. Anthony Albanese praised Cambodia, stressing that she is a great and resilient nation despite the hardships of the genocidal regime.

The Australian leader spoke highly of the long-lasting relations between Cambodia and Australia which dates back to more than seven decades ago, and their peoples have benefitted from this good relationship.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to the people and government of Australia for their support to Cambodia, especially during the peace-seeking process in the 1990s. Cambodia could not attain the current socio-economic development without Australia’s support to important sectors such as agriculture, health, demining, security and so o
n, he added.

In the framework of further strengthening and expanding cooperation, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister suggested key areas for cooperation, including trade and economy, education, labour, and defence.

The Cambodian Premier told his Australian counterpart that he highlighted Cambodia’s potential in the Australia-Cambodia Business Forum held earlier in the morning, and welcomed the signing of an agreement on air transport services, which will boost the tourism activities between the two countries.

The Prime Minister of Australia welcomed the above-said suggestion on areas of cooperation and accepted Samdech Thipadei’s invitation to pay an official visit to Cambodia in the near future.
