The foreign ministry said Friday it held a policy meeting with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) earlier this week to address issues related to the global population and humanitarian assistance. The meeting, held in New York on Thursday (local time), was led by Won Do-yeon, the ministry's director general for development cooperation, and Diene Keita, deputy executive director for programmes at UNFPA, according to the ministry. The two sides discussed a wide range of global issues, such as aging populations and low birth rates, and agreed to step up cooperation amid the Ukrainian war and other regional conflicts.
