JOHOR BAHRU, The Johor government has allocated RM6 million to upgrade the infrastructure and public amenities in Hutan Bandar Johor Bahru here. State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the upgrading works included improving lighting, parking, entrance gate, water theme park and camping site. "We expect the upgrading works to begin in January 2026… so, in the future Hutan Bandar Johor Bahru will have a new look, brighter and safer for the public, especially for night activities like jogging and so on,' he told reporters at the launch of the Johor Micro Entrepreneur Incentive Camp which was officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi here yesterday. Also present was state Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah. Mohd Jafni said this when asked to comment on the state government's efforts to upgrade focus areas in Johor Bahru. He said that beautification and landscape upgrading works at Taman Sri Lana ng here, costing RM5 million, would begin in September while the ongoing repairs to the Taman Merdeka landscape infrastructure, costing RM3.47 million, are expected to be completed in the third quarter of next year. Meanwhile, Mohd Hairi said in his speech that the Johor State Entrepreneur Development Council (MPUNJ), which is coordinated by the Johor State Economic Planning Division (BPENJ) and Perbadanan Usahawan Johor (PUJB), has so far implemented 78 initiatives, with 13,223 entrepreneurs benefitting from the more than RM97 million allocation. He also said that the BRJohor Niaga financing initiative, a collaboration between the state government and Bank Rakyat that was launched last year, had helped 413 entrepreneurs with a total of RM26 million in financing.
