Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has once again urged his compatriots and all stakeholders to pay attention to the national population. Addressing the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Planning held here this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said from now on until 2050, Cambodia will not face the demographic challenge, but it may be after 2050. 'Now is ok because the middle-aged population, the potential labour force, is large, but if the birth rate continues to be less than the aging population, we will soon face manpower shortage. […] Therefore, those who have good household income should have more babies,' he underlined. Until 2050, Cambodian people aged under 15 years old will be about 15.5 percent, between 15-64 some 67.5 percent, and over 65 around 17.1 percent, the Premier pointed out. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said we need to pay attention to the strengthening of young people's skills to get the most out of demographic t rend from now on. Source: Agence Kampuchea Presse
