Over 470,000 Foreign Tourists Visit Angkor Park in First Five Months

The famed Angkor Archeological Park, the most attractive tourism landscape in Cambodia, received 472,258 foreign tourists in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of nearly 37 percent, showed a report from the Angkor Enterprise which oversees the Angkor entrance pass sales. The revenue generated from the entrance pass sales rose by 38.2 percent to US$22.2 million, read the report released on June 1. Situated in northwest Siem Reap province, the 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples, which had been built from the 9th to the 13th centuries. The Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian country. In May alone, the enterprise earned a total income of US$2.28 million from 50,879 foreign tourists visiting the park. The entrance fee for a one-day visit to the park is US$37, a three-day visit costs US$62, a nd a week-long visit US$72. In 2023, more than 798,000 foreign tourists bought entrance passes to visit Angkor, earning over US$37 million, an increase of 222 percent compared to a year before. Source: Agence Kampuchea Presse
