Over 3,000 Square Kilometres of Mines Cleared

Cambodia has so far cleared over 3,000 square kilometres of landmines, Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) in Siem Reap province, told reporters on Feb. 7. He added that with continuous outstanding achievement, Cambodia was elected to chair and host the 5th Review Conference of the Mine Ban Convention, the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World in November 2024, with the participation of delegates from 164 countries and international organisations. Cambodia's peace, political stability, and social security were also considered when the Kingdom was elected for the role, he pointed out. Cambodia has demonstrated to the world that the country has ended the war and that people are living in peace, harmony, and prosperity, the senior minister underlined. According to H.E.
