KUALA LUMPUR, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil expressed condolences to the family of the former group chief editor of The Star Datuk Ng Poh Tip, who passed away today. Through a post on X, he said Ng had significantly contributed to the local journalism field as the country's first female chief editor. 'All her services and contributions will always be appreciated and remembered. May her soul rest in peace,' he said. Ng died at her home in Subang Jaya. She was 81. She started her career as a journalist in 1971 and made history as Malaysia's first female group chief editor when she was appointed to the post at The Star in 1993, where she served until 2003.
