A newborn's body with the umbilical cord still attached has been found floating in a reservoir in the central administrative city of Sejong, police said Friday. Police received a report from a nearby resident at 6:30 p.m. Thursday that a baby's body was floating in the reservoir in Sejong's Jochiwon district, about 110 kilometers south of Seoul, and retrieved the body, police officials said. The umbilical cord and placenta were still attached. The body did not appear to have wounds on the outside but was on the brink of decomposition. The reservoir is near an apartment complex and a college campus. Police suspect somebody had abandoned the baby and are looking into surveillance cameras for clues. They also plan to request the National Forensic Service for a post-mortem examination on the body. Source:Yonhapi News Agency
