SEOUL, The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) on Tuesday announced the four finalists for the 2024 Korea Artist Prize.
The four finalists — Kwon Ha-yoon, Yang Jung-uk, Yoon Ji-young and Jane Jin Kaisen — are active both in Korea and abroad, employing diverse media, such as sculpture, installation, video and virtual reality (VR), the MMCA said.
Kwon Ha-yoon experiments with technical media, such as 3D animation, documentary and VR, to enable viewers to experience spaces within individual memories through virtual reality.
Yang Jung-uk examines the daily lives of ordinary people and visualizes their stories through kinetic sculptures.
Yoon Ji-young utilizes her sculptural language to craft artworks that unveil the underlying operational structures of sacrifice and faith inherent in society.
Jane Jin Kaisen, a Korean adoptee based in Denmark, explores themes of memory, migration, borders and translation through her video works.

The museum will hold an exhibition featuring the works of the four artists from Oct. 25 to March 23 at its Seoul branch. The final winner will be announced in February.
