LABUAN, The Labuan Member of Parliament office has contributed RM50,000 to Labuan's Chinese school, SJK (C) Chi Wen, today. The funds, sourced from the Labuan MP's allocation and approved by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister's Department, have been directly channelled to the Chi Wen School Committee. Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abd Rahman said the contribution aims to alleviate the financial burden on the school's board in providing better facilities for students. "The Labuan MP Community Service Centre is committed to addressing welfare and economic issues affecting the community, including unresolved problems in schools…our focus encompasses all sectors of the community," he told Bernama today. He emphasised that the funds should be fully utilised to enhance the school's facilities and mandated that a pictorial report detailing the project's progress and completion be submitted to the Labuan MP Community Service Centre three months after the project's completion. Chi We n School Committee treasurer Poh Yeang Sheng said the request for financial assistance was made due to the deteriorating classroom facilities. "The funds will be fully used to replace nearly 10-year-old chairs and tables, many of which are in poor condition and some are damaged," he said. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
