KG Mobility’s May sales fall 17 pct

KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong Motor Co., said Monday its sales fell 17 percent last month from a year earlier. KG Mobility sold 8,130 vehicles in May, down from 9,830 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement. Domestic sales declined 17 percent to 4,001 units last month from 4,809 a year ago, while exports fell 18 percent to 4,129 from 5,051 during the same period, it said. "To prop up sales, the company will explore new markets in Latin America, while launching new models in the domestic market," the statement said. From January to May, its sales fell 14 percent to 47,207 autos from 54,722 units during the same period last year. Domestic sales plunged 40 percent to 19,876 units in the first five months from 33,211 a year ago, while exports jumped 26 percent to 27,331 from 21,691. The SUV-focused carmaker's lineup currently consists of the Tivoli, Korando, Rexton, Rexton Sports, Torres, and Torres EVX SUVs. The Torres EVX is KG Mobility's second battery-powered model after the Ko rando Emotion launched in the domestic market in February 2022. The Torres EVX is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery system and can travel more than 420 kilometers on a single charge. Source: Yonhap News Agency
