Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's leading automaker, said Monday its monthly sales fell 4.1 percent on-year in February over a partial suspension of production and the reduced number of working days last month. Hyundai Motor sold 314,909 vehicles in February, down from 317,856 units a year ago, the company said in a statement. Domestic sales fell 26.7 percent on-year to 47,653 units last month. Exports, however, rose 1.5 percent to 267,256 units during the cited period. Hyundai Motor said partial production suspensions at its domestic plants in Asan and Ulsan due to renewal of facilities impacted the overall monthly performance. Last month's fewer working days due to the Lunar New Year holiday also affected sales, it added. The company also said the delayed announcement of electric vehicle (EV) subsidies compared to previous years practically halted the company's EV sales. Hyundai Motor said it sold 7,776 sedans, including 3,963 Grandeur models, in South Korea. Sales of its recreational vehicles reached 18,299 units, including 7,413 Santa Fe units, at home.
