His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has called on all Buddhist followers to adhere to and widely disseminate Lord Buddha's teachings. The Cambodian monarch made the call in a royal message dated April 8 to his compatriots on the occasion of the International Buddhist Day. This is a great occasion celebrated for the unity and solidarity of all sects of Buddhism and to guide Buddhists of all denominations back to strictly adhere to Lord Buddha's original teachings, and spread the teachings more widely and actively for the cause of the growth of Buddhism and the building of peace in our society and in the world as a whole, he underlined. His Majesty the King also took the opportunity to wish all his compatriots with the four gems of Buddha blessings - Longevity, Nobility, Health, and Strength. The supreme Buddhist leaders from 41 countries across the five continents in the world have unanimously resolved to establish April 8, Lord Buddha's Birthday, as the Inte rnational Buddhist Day, at the Sixth Buddhist Summit conference held in Kobe, Japan in 2014.
