GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., said Thursday its vehicle sales more than doubled in January from a year earlier thanks to strong demand from both home and abroad. GM Korea sold 43,194 vehicles in January, up 165.8 percent from a year ago on increased domestic sales and overseas shipments of SUVs, the company said in a statement. Domestic sales jumped 183.4 percent on-year to 2,894 units last month while exports also surged 164.6 percent to 40,300 units. According to the company, its Trax Crossover compact SUV model in particular was in high demand, having sold 23,703 units domestically and overseas combined. Source: Yonhap News Agency
