GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., said Thursday its vehicle sales rose 7.7 percent in April from a year earlier thanks to strong demand from abroad. GM Korea sold 44,426 vehicles last month, compared with 41,233 units from a year ago, on increased overseas shipments of SUVs, the company said in a statement. Exports soared 17 percent to 42,129 units, while domestic sales plunged 56.1 percent to 2,297 units According to the company, its Trax Crossover compact SUV model in particular was in high demand last month, having sold 26,134 units, more than doubling its sales from a year ago.
