Emergency text alerts warning of disasters like earthquakes and security risks will include English texts to help inform foreigners of potential danger, the interior ministry said Wednesday. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said it will upgrade the warning system to include key disaster information, such as the type of disaster and its scale in English. For instance, the text message will read the term "earthquake" in case a tremor occurs, and "terror threat warning" if a terror attack occurs in the country. The measures were newly added on top of the current audio service provided by the ministry that reads the disaster warning texts in English or Chinese to those not fluent in Korean via the Emergency Ready App. Source: Yonhap News Agency
