Cambodian President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has expressed his wish to see the success of Toyota Tsusho Corporation's car assembly factory after it was inaugurated on May 2. In the meeting with Mr. Ichiro Kashitani, President/CEO at Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the inauguration of Toyota assembly plant in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone. After the collapse of the Khmer Rouge regime, Cambodia used Russian cars, then 10 years later, the then government purchased 12 Toyota cars for foreign leaders who visited Cambodia and for some senior leaders, he said. Samdech Techo added that initially Cambodia had no cars, but now more than 1 million cars and more than 5 million motorcycles. The senate president underlined that the newly inaugurated car assembly factory is an achievement attained by Cambodia after the change of leadership from the old to the new generation and the outcome of peace and political stability of Cambodia.
