Cambodia and Japan have discussed the strengthening of their bilateral relations in a number of areas ranging from trade and investment to labour and sister city establishment. On May 2, H.E. LIM Lork Piseth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, accompanied by H.E. TUY Ry, Ambassador of Cambodia to Japan, met with H.E. ITO Tetsuya, Vice-Governor of Miyagi Prefectural Government, at Miyagi Provincial Hall, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. This meeting aims to discuss the promotion of trade, investment, tourism, and exhibition activities between Cambodia and Sendai, the further increase of Cambodian labour forces in Miyagi prefecture, and the feasibility study on the formation of a connecting city between Sendai of Japan, and Cambodia's provinces/cities located by the sea, according to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce. Japanese side is planning to visit Cambodia soon to meet the Cambodian officials of relevant ministries/institutions. Earlier on May 1, H.E. LIM Lork Piseth inspec ted the construction progress of the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre and Khmer Village, in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and met with Mr. Takeshi Okami, the representative of Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd who manages and operates the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre. H.E. Secretary of State noted that the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre in Atsugi was well organised and attractive, and it is an important place to provide trade and investment information in Cambodia. It is also a place for displaying and promoting Khmer products, Khmer food, as well as traditional Khmer culture. On the occasion, H.E. LIM Lork Piseth highly appreciated the efforts of the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre, which has contributed to the promotion of trade and investment activities between Cambodia and Japan and encouraged the centre to continue to organise human resource training, business matching seminars, and facilitate business for Japanese investors who wish to do business in Cambodia.
