Cambodia and Indonesia are committed to further strengthening and expanding cooperation in education, youth, and sports.

The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, and H.E. Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on Sept. 5.

H.E. Dr. Santo Darmosumarto informed H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron of his plan for the provision of scholarship and study exchange opportunities for Cambodian students and officials.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron thanked the Government of Indonesia for continued support for Cambodia, especially on education and youth and sports development, contributing essentially to Cambodia’s human resources development.

The minister noted that Indonesia has so far provided scholarships to students and civil servants, built Prey Veng Cambodia-Indonesia Friendship School, and supported Cambodia’s sports sector through the provision of training to Cambodian athletes.

He also h
oped to promote the scholarship opportunity among students from Muslim communities in Cambodia.
