Cambodia's Siem Reap province has been hosting the 21st ASEAN Air Chief Conference themed "Enhancing Information Sharing and Cohesive Cooperation among ASEAN Air Forces for Peace and Development" from Sept. 15 to 18. The opening ceremony of the conference took place on Sept. 16 under the presidency of H.E. Gen. Soeung Samnang, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Force and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Air Force, with the participation of air force commanders from the ASEAN member states. The 21st ASEAN Air Chief Conference aimed to strengthen the solidarity, air security cooperation and information sharing among ASEAN countries so as to prevent air drug and human trafficking and air terrorism. The conference outlined key strategies to facilitate flights to disaster-stricken ASEAN countries and calls for the ASEAN Air Force to intervene, rescue and transport humanitarian aid as needed and in a timely manner. It also focused on human resources training for young air officers and exchan ge of visits. According to Lt. Gen. Kong Mony, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Air Force, the ASEAN Air Chief Conference is organised on a rotation basis among all ASEAN member states, and this is the second time for Cambodia to host such important event.
