Cambodia has attended the 31st ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Meeting and other related meetings in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The meeting took place in Luang Prabang province on Mar. 24, with the participation of ASCC ministers and senior officials, pertinent delegates from Timor-Leste, the ASEAN Secretariat, and other stakeholders. The Cambodian delegation was led by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports. Addressing the function, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron congratulated Laos for its role as a rotating chairmanship of ASEAN and the successful launch of ASCC data for the monitoring and evaluation system of the ASEAN Secretariat. H.E. Hang Chuon Naron underlined the significance of strengthening cooperation in education, 21st century skills, and digital skills for living in the AI age. The minister reiterated Cambodia's stand in promoting the comprehensive implementation of an agenda on women, peace, and security in the region, encouraging all member states to transform that agenda into their national agenda. He also supported the framework agreement on the ASEAN Public Health Emergency Coordination System (APHECS), the Vang Vieng Declaration on Promoting the Small and Medium-sized Cultural Enterprises, and the ASEAN pathway towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
