Cambodia has requested New Zealand to consider increasing the number of scholarships for long and short term to Cambodian youth and officials. The request was made by H.E. PRAK Nguon Hong, Cambodian Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a meeting here on April 8 with Mr. Gary Ward, General Manager Engagement for the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. On the occasion, both sides discussed New Zealand's scholarships for Cambodia, especially the English Language Training for Cambodian Officials (ELTO) programme. H.E. PRAK Ngoun Hong expressed his profound thanks to the New Zealand Government for providing scholarships for long and short term for Cambodian youth and officials, particularly English training courses under the ELTO programme since 1995, and highly valued the New Zealand Government's commitment in supporting human resources development that is a priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia. He also asked the New Zealand side to conside r adding more training courses for diplomats on negotiation skill, public speaking, writing report and economic diplomacy.
