Cambodia and Nigeria Collaborate on Demining Efforts

Phnom Penh: The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and a delegation from Nigeria's North-Eastern Development Commission recently engaged in discussions regarding the advancement of Cambodia's demining efforts. This meeting was hosted by H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC, and took place at the CMAC headquarters with the participation of Mr. Mohammed Goni Alkali, Managing Director/CEO of the North-Eastern Development Commission.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Nigerian delegation aimed to learn from Cambodia's experiences in post-conflict recovery and peacebuilding, particularly focusing on its internationally acclaimed mine clearance programs. Mr. Mohammed Goni Alkali commended the Royal Government of Cambodia for its success in maintaining peace and stability within the nation.

Mr. Alkali expressed gratitude towards CMAC for sharing valuable insights into humanitarian mine clearance practices. He also acknowledged the center's efforts in promoting community involvement to safeguard civilians from the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).
