K-pop superstar Jin will be discharged from the mandatory military service later this month, his agency said Sunday. The vocalist of the boy group BTS will be discharged June 12 and will participate in the annual BTS Festa at the Seoul Sports Complex in southern Seoul on June 13, BigHit Music said. The agency said the event was organized at Jin's suggestion, as he wanted to spend meaningful time with ARMY, the name of BTS' fandom. A "hug event" will be held for 1,000 fans, the agency said. The 2024 BTS Festa will kick off next week in celebration of the popular boy group's debut, with many fans eagerly awaiting the return of band members currently serving in the military. Jin was the first BTS member to join the military. The group's six other members - RM, Suga, Jimin, J-hope, V and Jungkook - are all currently enlisted. In South Korea, all able-bodied men are required to serve between 18 and 21 months in the military. Source: Yonhap News Agency
