SEPANG, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) Racing Team rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah aims to win the fifth round of the 2024 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) this weekend to claim the top spot in the Asian Superbike 1000cc (ASB 1000) class. However, the 30-year-old rider acknowledges that it will not be an easy task as he anticipates strong competition from Honda Asia-Dream Racing Astemo's rider, Andi Farid Izdihar from Indonesia. 'For me, yes (winning the race) and we are really looking for this. Our target is just to be in front of Andi because the race between me and him has always been competitive from the beginning of the season. 'I know the track very well and also this is my home ground. I will try to collect as many points as possible in the race,' he told a press conference here today. Currently, Hafizh Syahrin is six points behind Andi Farid, who leads the ARRC championship standings in the Asia Superbike 1000cc category with 116 points. Hafizh Syahrin said the presence of local supporters, especially JDT fans, will motivate him to perform better than ever. 'I love seeing how JDT fans support their football team, and I'm excited to see how they will support our JDT Racing team as this is our first year at Sepang. 'I will appreciate every single thing they do for me at the event, and I will do my best to show them what I can do,' he said. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
