PUTRAJAYA, The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will disburse RM500 in special aid to asnaf in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan in preparation for Hari Raya Aidiladha. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the aid would be provided to 32,300 tithe recipients under the poor, needy, muallaf and ar-riqab categories. The money will be credited to recipients' accounts by June 14. 'In total, MAIWP has allocated RM16,150,000 from zakat collections to be distributed to asnaf to enable them to prepare for Hari Raya Aidiladha,' he said in a statement. Mohd Na'im said the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) through MAIWP would always strive to fulfil the needs and ensure the welfare of asnaf in the Federal Territories.
