BATU KAWAN, The Young Socialpreneur Programme (YS2P 3.0) made a historic achievement by entering the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the Most Online Judging in a Young Socialpreneurship Competition.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) said the programme was organised for the third time by Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS) in collaboration with the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, and PKT Logistics Groups Sdn Bhd, held at The Ship Campus, here yesterday.
“There were 50 members in the jury from 16 agencies and industries judging the Online Pitching simultaneously at POLISAS.
“YS2P 3.0 received 1,116 participants comprised of 93 groups involving 25 polytechnics and 40 community colleges nationwide,” said the statement.
MOHE said the Digital Maven Group from the Segamat Community College managed to impress the jury and seized the top spot in the YS2P 3.0 finals through its Jawi Caligraphy Creative Entrepreneurship Project with the Maahad Tahfiz Al- Muhammadi school in Segamat.
“They took home RM3,000 in cash, a trophy and a certificate,” it said.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony was officiated by the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education director-general, Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail who represented Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Also present were PKT Logistics Group chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director, Datuk Seri Dr Michael Tio and POLISAS director Norehan Silek.
MOHE said Capt Empire Group from the Seberang Perai Polytechnic won two prizes, namely the Best CEO and PKT Scholarship, and the Most Popular Tiktok Vlog awards through the Qoorta Loka project.
“While PMU Chillie House from Mukah Polytechnic obtained the Special Jury Prize with its Nana Chilli Sauce,” it added.
YS2P combines the concepts of entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and social responsibility towards the community with the objective of developing a more competitive student entrepreneurship programme in line with its theme of "Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Lifestyle".
