KOTA BHARU, Yayasan Pelajaran Mara (YPM) has provided extensive aid to 2,314 underprivileged Bumiputera students in Kelantan, including Gua Musang, with an allocation of RM275,675 up to July. YPM chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail Mohamed Said stated that YPM also provided RM18,900 for the Semai Kasih Orang Asli Community programme, including previous ones conducted at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pulat, with 46 Orang Asli students. "This is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) and YPM's efforts to help the Orang Asli community in Gua Musang access quality education. 'The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, through its agencies, is highly committed to prioritising educational development in rural and remote areas, particularly for underprivileged students and those from low-income families (B40)," he said in a press statement today. He added that 120 Orang Asli students from SK Tohoi received a cash aid of RM100 each today, aimed at boosting their motivation and improving their educational an d socio-economic status. He said the programme specifically targets Bumiputera B40 and underprivileged students in the Gua Musang district and emphasised that the ministry's agencies and departments, such as MARA and YPM, will continue to facilitate educational access for them.
