Villagers Found Two Ancient Buddha Statues in Rice Field

Two ancient Buddha statues were found in the rice field on Wednesday in Prey Tup village, Sra Nge commune, Traing district, Takeo province, according to the local authority. Villagers found the statues and reported them to the local authority, and the artefacts were handed over to the National Museum for conservation. Mr. Chet Pisoth, Director of the Takeo Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts, said those two artefacts seemingly date back to the 7th century. One of them is the standing Buddha statue, and the other is the Buddha sitting for meditation.
