A villager in Terengganu is worried that a tiger or panther may have killed one of his cattle.
Abdul Latif Othman, 32, of Kampung Padang Tapong near here, came to the conclusion after finding the headless carcass of a calf with its entrails missing at 6.45 pm yesterday.
“There were traces of the animal having been dragged into the undergrowth from the open space in an oil palm smallholding where my cattle usually graze. I was drawn to the carcass by a foul smell,” he told Bernama today.
Abdul Latif said he could not detect any pugmark as it was getting dark and, being alone, he left for the safety of his home.
“I am unsure whether it was a tiger or a panther because both these animals are present in this area. However, they have not harmed livestock so far,” said the breeder of more than 50 head of cattle.
He has reported the matter to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.
