Enhancing road access has become a major agenda for the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA). URDA chairman Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said a total of 43 infrastructure projects, including road construction, water supply and other basic facilities, are currently underway or have been completed by the development agency. 'We have an allocation of RM1.5 billion, and to date, 13 out of the 43 projects have been completed, while others are in progress. Our major projects focus on road construction in the areas of Belaga, Baleh, Kapit and Song. 'We have also established laboratories in all districts under URDA to identify the projects needed,' he told reporters after the URDA Board of Directors meeting here today. URDA is an agency under the Sarawak Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) established in July 2017 to drive development in the regions covering Kapit, Kanowit, Song, Belaga and Bukit Mabong, encompassing an area of 41,186 square kilometres.
