London: UK Foreign Secretary H.E. Mrs. Yvette Cooper MP has welcomed the peace accord between Cambodia and Thailand, emphasising that its implementation will be vital for regional stability. ‘I pay tribute to the leadership of PM Anwar as ASEAN chair, and the efforts of President Trump, in achieving this step. Peace through partnership,’ she stated.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the historic peace deal was signed by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand. The signing took place under the witness of H.E. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chair of the 2025 ASEAN Summits.
The agreement was formalized on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Oct. 26. The accord is expected to reinforce peace and cooperation between the two nations, contributing to broader regional harmony within Southeast Asia.
