Phnom Penh: H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, recently hosted a working dinner with H.E. Shaharuddin Bin Onn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Cambodia, to discuss enhancing tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia. The meeting, held on June 16, focused on various strategies to boost tourism growth between the two countries.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions included the potential for organising new and attractive tourism exhibitions in Cambodia and Malaysia. Both sides emphasized the importance of diversifying tourism events, particularly during Cambodia's Green Season. The goal is to engage the Malaysian public with the Green Season campaign and to create a promotional video to highlight Cambodia's tourism potential and investment opportunities to Malaysian tourists and businesses.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the appreciation of the newly launched direct flight between Phnom Penh and Penang, Malaysia's second-largest airport. This development was seen as a positive step towards improving connectivity and increasing tourism flows between the two nations.
Ambassador Shaharuddin praised the robust cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia, crediting it to the wise leadership of former Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his successor, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He noted that their leadership has been instrumental in Cambodia's development and in strengthening diplomatic relations, particularly in enhancing people-to-people exchanges and tourism.
