Tourism Minister Highlights Cambodia’s Commitment to Peace and Development


Phnom penh: Cambodia and the Cambodian people love and value peace very much, and truly cherish the development opportunities that peace brings.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the statement was made by H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, during a joint art performance with H.E. Ek Sam Ol, a Member of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and President of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association. The event, themed ‘Wings of Peace’, marked the 67th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China and was held at the Morgan Tower in the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on the evening of August 18.



H.E. Huot Hak expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia for their role in facilitating negotiations that led to a ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. He also acknowledged the support of Chinese friends in Cambodia who have contributed financially and materially to assist displaced people along the Cambodian-Thailand border.



The Minister extended a warm welcome to Chinese tourists interested in Cambodia’s culture and friendship, emphasizing the mutual benefits of Cambodian-Chinese relations. He noted that Chinese visitors play a crucial role in enhancing the ‘wings of peace’ between the two nations.



Highlighting Cambodia as a peaceful and attractive tourist destination, H.E. Huot Hak reported that from January to July 2025, the country received 3,710,000 international tourists, including 690,000 Chinese visitors, marking a 48.2 percent increase.



He invited Chinese people to continue visiting Cambodia to experience its wonders and the hospitality of its people, reinforcing the spirit of peace and friendship between the two countries.
