TERENGGANU SOCSO TARGETS 12,000 SKSPS REGISTRATIONS THIS YEAR

KUALA TERENGGANU, The Social Security Organisation (Socso) of Terengganu is targeting 12,000 registrations under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) in the state this year.

Its director, Farihah Che Husin said that, so far, 6,000 self-employed individuals from 20 sectors have registered for the scheme.

She said those who have registered will get various benefits through the SKSPS, including temporary and permanent disablement benefits, dependants’ benefits, medical benefits and facilities for physical or vocational rehabilitation.

“Last year, Socso targeted 8,000 registrations under SKSPS. God-willing, we achieved it thanks to the various awareness campaigns conducted,’ she said after attending the state-level Socso Protection for Media Practitioners briefing here today.

A total of 40 media practitioners from various agencies, including the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), New Straits Times Press (NSTP), Sinar Harian and Utusan Malaysia participated in the briefing, which also inc
luded an SKSPS registration programme for stringers.

Farihah said Terengganu Socso has also paid out RM100,000 in benefits to eligible housewives under the Housewives’ Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) that was introduced in 2022.

“Although this scheme is called SKSSR, single women can also register for it as long as they are managing the household,’ she said, adding that as of May, 300 housewives in Terengganu have registered under the SKSSR.
