Muar Member of Parliament and former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman suffered injuries after the bicycle he was riding was believed to have hit a fallen tree branch while participating in the Ironman Malaysia Championship in Langkawi today. It is believed that the incident occurred when Syed Saddiq was doing cycling and the weather conditions at that time was raining. Langkawi district police chief ACP Shariman Ashari when contacted confirmed the incident and said that Syed Saddiq was paddling to the final checkpoint for the next event, which is the running event, when the unfortunate incident happened. On Thursday, Syed Saddiq told Bernama that this was his first participation in Ironman Malaysia and that he was determined to set a good time for himself. Participants taking part in the Ironman Malaysia have to complete three disciplines, namely swimming for 3.8 kilometres (km), cycling for 180km and running for 42.2km. However, despite the setback, Syed Saddiq is expected to com plete the disciplines, especially the final routine which is the 42.2km run. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
