Suspect In Deadly Crash Had No Mental Health Record

The female suspect involved in an accident which saw three University of Technology Mara (UiTM) students perish has no record of receiving any treatment for her alleged mental illness. Terengganu State Health Department (JKNT) director Datuk Dr Kasemani Embong said checks found no health records of the suspect in the state's public sector hospitals or health clinics. "Checks made and found that there is no record of the woman's mental health in any health facility in the state of Terengganu so far. "But we are not sure if she got treated in another place or state," she said when contacted today. She urged people who have family members with mental health issues to send their loved ones for treatment. Dr Kasemani said people must put aside their shame and send their loved ones for treatment before something untoward happens. "Society needs to change its thinking on mental illness. Don't be ashamed to seek treatment. "Family members and the community need to support them (the mentally ill) to get proper treatment and recover," she said. In the Wednesday evening tragedy, three UiTM Dungun campus students were killed and another critically injured when an SUV on Jalan Pantai ploughed into two motorcycles they were riding.
