SULTAN NAZRIN PRESENTS PERAK ISLAMIC EDUCATION EXCELLENCE AWARDS

IPOH, The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graced the Perak Islamic Education Excellence Awards ceremony 1445H/2023M here today.

Sultan Nazrin presented 24 excellence awards to 120 recipients, including two major awards, namely the Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang 2023 and Anugerah Tokoh Guru 2023.

The Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang was presented to Saniah Dona Mustafa for the female category and Mohammad Abu Bakar for the male category.

The Anugerah Tokoh Guru was presented to Zulkifli Ahmad, who was the headmaster, principal and CEO of Al-Hidayah Education Centre in Ipoh.

At the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin also launched the Say No to Single-Use Plastics campaign.

Meanwhile, Zulkifli, 59, who is the principal at Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat Orang Asli Nurul Hidayah Kampung Kenang Baru, Jalong Tinggi, Sungai Siput told reporters that he was facing various challenges when teaching the children of the Orang Asli community.

"I love challenges, so I changed my teaching style. At regular school, I might expect straight A’s, but here (Orang Asli religious school) we change our approach, we want them to at least sit for SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) exam.

"We set a target first for everyone to come for the exam, then we target for them to at least pass the core subjects. If they are not really good in academic, we guide them in skills training," said the Kuala Kangsar native.

Therefore, Zulkifli advised young teachers to make the field of education an opportunity to reap rewards.
