KUCHING, Federal Territories (FT) downed Perak 3-2 in the mixed team tennis final to add another gold to their contingent's medal collection at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) today. FT got off to cracking start when men's singles ace Darrshan Suresh Kumar defeated Azfar Haruya Amir Syahrul 6-1, 6-0 but Perak hit back immediately through Shihomi Li Xuan Leong, who handed FT's Lynn Lim a double bagel - 6-0, 6-0 - in women's singles. But normal service resumed soon after for FT as Leroy Nan Er Yong-Nicholas Yi Ren Kong put their team 2-1 up with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Daniel Leong Prickett-Muhammad Farreez Isqandar in men's doubles. Aqil Adibi Rahiman-Nao Ziyi Phang then delivered the winning point for FT with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Muhammad Adam Aqil Anuar-Hana Mohd Sahi in mixed doubles. Perak's women's doubles pair of Catherine Eva Liew-Hannah Sean Ean Yip then downed Athilla Miasara Azizul Azhar 4-6, 6-2 (retired) for a more respectable scoreline.
