SIBU, The Sibu Division SUKMA Carnival is expected to record sales of over RM100,000 at the end of 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA). Sarawak Public Health, Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Michael Tiang Ming Tee said that, as of the third day yesterday, the carnival had recorded sales totalling RM50,000. 'This is the manifestation of the great support of locals towards this carnival, which is being organised in conjunction with SUKMA 2024,' he told reporters after officiating the launch of the carnival at the Sibu Indoor Stadium today. The carnival, organised by the Sibu Division Entrepreneur Development Council together with the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), Sibu Resident Office, Department of Social Welfare, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia and the Sibu Division Agriculture Office. Tiang, also the Pelawan state assemblyman, said the carnival provided an opportunity for Sibu entrepreneurs t o market their unique products. 'This will help them to generate income and boost the economic growth of households,' he added. The carnival is participated by 43 entrepreneurs selling various handicraft and local food products.
