KUCHING, Several roads in Miri city and along the coast towards Bintulu will be closed and diverted this Saturday in conjunction with Stage Seven of the 2024 Petronas Le Tour De Langkawi (LTDL), taking place in northern Sarawak.

Miri District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the road closures and diversions would begin as early as 5.30 am until the race concludes, covering a distance of 199.3 kilometres.

He said that the locations affected by phased closures and diversions include Jalan Sungai Baong, SJalan Permaisuri intersection, Sehati traffic light junction, Sehati Roundabout, Parkson traffic light junction, Grand Old Lady (GOL) intersection, Puchong Roundabout, Jalan Hainam intersection, Jalan Cahaya intersection, Hilltop traffic light junction, public parking area in front of Pullman Miri Waterfront, public parking area near Imperial Palace Hotel, and the coastal road to Bintulu.

‘The race will start at Miri Waterfront and end at Lasar Kenyalang Bintulu, involving 22 teams with a total of 13
2 cyclists.

‘To ensure the scheduled race proceeds smoothly and safely, the police will prioritise safety and traffic control during the event,’ he said in a statement tonight.

Alexson advised the public to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion that could disrupt the race.

“Besides that, those heading towards Bekenu and Batu Niah can use the Pan Borneo Highway,” he added.
