Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Royal Palace in replacement of Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol who passed away this morning at the age of 94 years old due to natural causes. The appointment was made in a royal decree signed on Sept. 2 by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia. H.E. Oknha Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal was former Senior Minister in Charge of the General Affairs to the Ministry of the Royal Palace. He was granted the title of Samdech Moha Montrei in a separate royal decree issued on the same day. At the same time, Lok Neak Oknha Moha Pheakdei Kong Panha was designated by His Majesty the King as Senior Minister in Charge of the General Affairs to the Ministry of the Royal Palace in replacement of Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal.
