South Korea and the Czech Republic have agreed to launch a working-level defense policy meeting to explore new areas for cooperation, the South’s defense ministry said Wednesday, as the two countries seek to strengthen their strategic partnership.

South Korea’s Vice Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho and his Czech counterpart, Daniel Blazkovec, reached the agreement during a meeting at the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces on Tuesday, according to the ministry.

Kim called for the Czech Republic’s interest in the South Korean arms industry, noting that bilateral ties have expanded into a comprehensive one based on their cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.

Both sides agreed to step up high-level exchanges and cooperation in cybersecurity and other areas, and strongly condemned North Korea and Russia’s deepening military cooperation, the ministry said.
