Efa Sarima Anwar has attributed her Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 in the 2022 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results announced today to the proper use of social media while studying.
The 20-year-old admitted that using the STPM study notes uploaded and shared in social media groups like Telegram had ‘helped’ her in her revisions and allowed her to have a better understanding of the subjects she took.
“I saved time on revision by taking notes from various groups in the Telegram application and, from there, I created my own notes that are more comprehensive.
“This helped me to better understand the subjects and enabled me to be better prepared when my teachers taught them in school,” she told reporters after obtaining her STPM result at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Astana, here, today.
Also present at the STPM result announcement was Pahang Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak.
Efa Sarima, the youngest of five siblings, said she never gave up despite her tepid trial results, adding that the support from her parents and teachers also helped to inspire her to achieve outstanding results.
“I only got 2As, 1B and 1C in the trial examination… but those around me encouraged me and urged me to continue to strive as there was still time (to revise) before the actual examination,” said Efa Sarima, who aspires to be an economic lecturer.
Twenty-year-old Mohamad Aiman Haziq Mohalis, who also obtained a CGPA of 4.0, meanwhile, attributed his outstanding result to paying attention when the teachers were teaching and asking questions if he was not clear about certain things.
The eldest of three siblings hopes the result he obtained would pave the way for him to pursue his studies in economics at either Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) or Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as he is aware of the stiff competition to get into public universities.
“No secrets, just continue to strive and do the best you can. That has been my philosophy all along and it has guided me to not take anything for granted,” he said.
