Price cap for meals for public servants raised to 50,000 won

The price cap for meals for public servants and select other professions was raised to 50,000 won (US$38) from 30,000 won under a revised enforcement ordinance Tuesday. The revised enforcement ordinance to the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, commonly known as the Kim Young-ran law, was approved by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission last month amid calls to raise the price ceiling to reflect current prices. Since the anti-graft law took effect in 2016, public officials and individuals in specific roles, such as journalists and private school teachers, had not been allowed to be treated to meals worth more than 30,000 won per person.
