Postmen’s initiative by placing and flying the Jalur Gemilang on their motorcycles while making their rounds delivering letters undoubtedly promote the spirit of patriotism ahead of the National Day celebration on Aug 31.
Kedah Information Department director Nasrudin Mahmud described these postmen as little ambassadors in promoting a sense of patriotism among the Kedahans.
“These postmen fly the flags on their motorcycles and go to all villages and towns daily to deliver letters. Indirectly, the community can see that although these postmen are busy, they still have time and enthusiasm to hoist the flags.
“They are like little ambassadors, inviting the community to hoist the Jalur Gemilang on their houses and properties throughout the state,” he told a press conference at the Alor Setar post office today.
He had earlier launched the Semarak Gemilang programme together with Kedah Pos Malaysia and flagged off a convoy consisting of 50 postmen on motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Nasrudin said that his department has lined up five major programmes for the National Day to instil the spirit of love for the country among the Kedahans.
