The parades of political parties contesting in the 7th National Election on the final day of the three-week-long election campaign was held under the rain drops.
In Phnom Penh, the parade of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) was presided over by H.E. Hun Manet, a Member of the Standing Committee of the CPP Central Committee and a CPP’s candidate for Phnom Penh municipal constituency, and nearly 80,000 party supporters across the capital.
Addressing to the supporters gathering at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre this morning, H.E. Hun Manet thanked all supporters for their hard work in the past 20 days of election campaign under the rain and heat with the strong will and love of the party, as well as for their espect of the rules and regulations set by the National Election Committee (NEC).
During the campaign, the party’s candidates for Phnom Penh municipal constituency and activists have visited and encouraged the people to go to vote, he said.
“Overall, the past 20 days of the campaign have gone smoothly and without any incidents. Our party supporters have been campaigning responsibly and strictly respecting the election law,” H.E. Hun Manet underlined.
Even though a small group of extremists continue to try all means to destroy this election, they cannot hide the truth of Cambodia because the people are well aware of their most poisonous and dangerous tactics, will be determined to unwaveringly support the CPP and vow to vote for the party to ensure the prosperity and development for the future generations, he added.
“The election day, on July 23, 2023 is the most important day of our nation and motherland to continue to maintain peace, political stability and development, so please go and vote, especially vote for the Cambodian People’s Party,” he said.
H.E. Hun Manet said for more than 44 years, the CPP has been united with the people under all circumstances and led the people through all difficulties […] until the current progress.
This historical fact proves that only the CPP has the ability and capability to lead Cambodia towards a bright future, so voting for the CPP is a real vote for ourselves, H.E. Hun Manet, adding that every five years, the CPP sets out clear and specific policies and actions to meet the real needs of the Cambodian people.
Besides CPP, some other political parties also held parades and other activities across the nation today.
Eighteen parties have been registered to compete in the political race.
Tomorrow is the “white day” which bans all campaign activities, and on Sunday, all the 23,789 polling stations throughout the country will open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm for the eligible voters under the witness of 333 international observers from 65 countries and international institutions and nearly 90,000 national observers from 134 organisations and associations.
