The Phnom Penh capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia was ranked 9th among the 25 Best Trending Destinations in the World 2024 by Tripadvisor. Tokyo of Japan was crowned No. 1, followed by Seoul of the Republic of Korea and Halong Bay of Vietnam. Besides Phnom Penh and Halong Bay, other ASEAN destinations on the list include Palawan Island of the Philippines, Sapa of Vietnam, Pattaya of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia which got No. 4, 5, 7, 10, respectively. Bogota of Colombia and Alajela of Coasta Rica claimed 6th and 8th, respectively of the top ten spots. Situated at the confluence of three great rivers, the 'four arms' of the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac, form right in front of the Royal Palace. Once hailed, the 'Pearl of Asia', Phnom Penh is fast regaining its lustre having developed to become Cambodia's economic, commercial, cultural and tourist centre. The city offers several cultural and historical attractions including the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum.
