BATU KAWAN, The Penang Department of Information (JaPen) is launching various patriotism-themed programmes in the state to enliven this year's National Day celebrations further. Penang Information Director Hasmiza Hussin said that these programmes are being carried out at all levels to ensure a broad and holistic impact throughout the state. 'Several programmes already implemented have garnered strong support from MADANI community members and the local community, who are highly active and enthusiastic about celebrating the 67th National Day. 'We are also pleased that not only are communities across all age groups united but numerous government agencies that provide essential public services are also being engaged," she said during the MADANI Community Spirit programme for the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency here today. The programme was officiated by Bukit Tambun state assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, who represented Batu Kawan member of parliament and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. It was organis ed in collaboration with Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) and held at the JSAHMS Rest and Service Area. The event was also attended by JKSB's chief executive officer, Datuk Faisal Shahbudin. Hasmiza urged all Malaysians to participate in the Jalur Gemilang campaign by displaying the flag at their respective premises. This year's campaign is themed One Home, One Jalur Gemilang. "It is fitting to express our patriotic spirit and pride as Malaysians by flying the Jalur Gemilang. In my view, every suggestion and campaign that unites Malaysians should be embraced with full commitment," she said. The event included a Keluarga MADANI colouring contest, distribution of Jalur Gemilang flags to motorists at the JSAHMS Toll Plaza, and the flag-off of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang convoy for the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency.
